ARC Round Robin Tournament Results
ARC Round Robin Tournament - Grant organized a round robin tournament last night with 16 players, 7 games in mixed doubles. Henry and Jane won the 1st place with 6.5 games won because Jane had to leave early due to a pulled leg muscle. I won the 2nd place with Ganbat by winning 6 games. Mike and Claire won the 3rd place by winning 5 games. Mat, Pat, Linda, Larry, Gerry, Ken, Karen, Binu and two newer players attended. It was a lot of fun !!!

New Pickleball Times Added at ARC in Feb/12
ARC had a request from our evening pickleball players for some weekend pickleball times so ARC has added two weekend spots:
Early Riser Pickleball at ARC
Sat and Sun 7am – 8:45am. Gym 2
This time is a part of the Early Riser time slots and thus will only cost $2 for drop in. Sr. Activity Centre Memberships will NOT be accepted during this time.
This is a time that is not generally staffed so we are hoping that the group is comfortable setting up the nets on their own. ARC will hand out rackets and balls at the front counter. These time slots will be put onto the schedule beginning in February so the first week will be Feb 4 & 5. Now we have pickleball 7 times a week at ARC.

Outdoor Pickleball New Year's Eve in Ladner, B.C.

About a dozen dedicated players enjoyed the newly painted pickleball courts on a cool but lovely New Year's Eve in Beautiful B.C. Peter is our hardworking Ambassador who with his friends lobbied the City successfully to get two outside pickleball lines painted on the tennis courts. Well done, Pete !!!

THE FIRST NATIONAL PICKLEBALL TOURNAMENT IS COMING SOON, PLAYERS WELCOME FROM CANADA AND THE U.S.A. We will be playing under IFP Rules.
Don’t delay, be a part of this historic event, over 130 players will be attending over the 2 day event so register early so you won’t be disappointed. Limited categories and the most popular fill up very quickly. We already have a number of players booked into this tournament.
As the recognized leaders of Pickleball in Canada, we are proud to sanction this landmark event and support it 100%. It has been in the planning stages for a few months now and details are still being finalized but we could not ask for a better facility to host it. “ARC” is the ABBOTSFORD RECREATION CENTRE. The organizers are also looking for extra facilities to handle this large gathering for the two days event, they are looking at 6 additional courts indoors to be added to the 8 indoor courts.
LADIES & GENTLEMEN MARK YOUR CALENDARS JULY 7TH & 8TH - START YOUR ENGINES FOR THIS CANADIAN PREMIER EVENT OF THE YEAR. We are anticipating players coming from up to 8 Provinces and as far away as Nova Scotia, plus many coming from the U.S.A. with some of their top players. It will be the best of the best playing here in July.
Basic categories are: Men’s Doubles: OPEN, under 55, 55+, 60+, 65+ and 70+, Women’s Doubles will be the same. These games will be played on Saturday July 7th. Mixed Doubles in all the same categories will be played July 8th. There will of course be Men’s & Women’s Singles as well.
There are many excellent hotels & motels in the Abbotsford area, such as Sandman Hotel & Suites, Coast Hotels & Suites, Best Western, Ramada Inn, Super 8, Sweet Dreams Luxury Inn and also RV Accommodations at Aloha Trailer Park & Campsite. Details will follow over the coming months.
We are offering COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIPS as well as FRIENDS of PCO NATIONAL TOURNAMENT, PLUS Donations of cash & prizes for this wonderful event.
